How to order your personalised Christmas book, The Christmas Muddle

Making Christmas magical for children is what we’re all about at Elf for Christmas.

So we are incredibly excited to launch our personalised children’s book The Christmas Muddle, starring your child and their very own elf. What could be more magical for a child than owning a beautiful Christmas book that’s all about them?

The Christmas Muddle tells the tale of how your little one’s elf helps Santa when he gets himself all muddled up. Children will love seeing their own name alongside beautiful original illustrations by the amazingly talented Nia Ffion Tudor.

We want to ensure everyone who orders The Christmas Muddle is thrilled with their child’s personalised book when they receive it, so we’ve put together the following guide to help you fill in the order form correctly.

Each personalised book is individually printed from the data you provide, so please make sure to double check all spellings are correct and all questions are answered accurately before submitting your order.

The information you provide will be included in the book verbatim, so please fill in each field exactly as you would like it to appear in your child’s personalised book.

A personal message to your child:

This is an opportunity for you to write your own dedication to your little one. It could be something like

To Sarah, with love from Granny at Christmas x

or

Have a magical Christmas Bobby! All our love, Mummy & Daddy x

It’s best to keep this message short so it will sit nicely on the page, so try to limit it to no more than around 20 words.

If you choose to leave this question blank, we will print: “A book for you, from the Elves at the North Pole x” as the dedication.

My Elf is called:

The name you enter here will be used throughout your personalized book. The elf in the story comes to stay with your child, so using the actual name of your child’s own elf will make it all the more magical for them.

If your elf doesn’t have a name, or your child doesn’t yet have an elf, you can choose to leave this field blank and we will simply refer to him or her as “Elf”.

My Elf is a:

We need this information so we can call your elf “he” or “she” throughout the story and so we can customize the imagery to a boy or girl elf. If your child doesn’t yet have an elf, just pick whichever one you think your child would prefer to have visiting them!

My child’s first name is: / My child’s surname is:

Your child’s name will be used repeatedly throughout their personalized book, so it is vital that all spellings are double checked BEFORE placing your order.

Remember, if you’re placing your order through your smart phone, predictive text is the scourge of the order form! Please make sure little Noah doesn’t receive a book referring to him as Norah all the way through – check, check and check again!

My child's birthday is in: / My child's birthday date is:

Please select the correct month and day from the dropdown lists. Santa needs this information in the book to make sure he has his Nice List up to date!

My child's village, town or city: / My child's country or state:

There are two separate fields with this question. The first is for their home town or village – we don’t need the full address or street name. The second field is for the country they live in, so could be England, Scotland, the UK, South Africa, America, Australia, etc etc.

Please note, in order for the story to flow correctly, if you choose a country such as the UK, the USA, the Netherlands etc, you will need to enter "the UK", "the USA", "the Netherlands" etc, rather than simply "UK", "USA", "Netherlands".

This information will help Elf find your little one’s home in the story.

A local landmark near my child's house is:

Again, this information is used to help Elf find your child’s house. So it could be something as generic as “the school” or “the park”, something very specific to your street, such as “the big orange fence”, or something that’s a famous landmark nearby, like “The Angel of the North” or “Big Ben”.

Just remember that whatever you write here will be repeated word for word in the story. So keep it short and state only the name of the landmark.

EXAMPLE OF A BAD ANSWER: “The stream at the bottom of our garden”

will appear in the story as:

“What an adventure Elf will have!” thought Santa. “I hope he remembers to turn at the stream at the bottom of our garden.”

EXAMPLE OF A GOOD ANSWER: “The little stream”

will appear in the story as:

“What an adventure Elf will have!” thought Santa. “I hope he remembers to turn at the little stream.”

This year, my child has asked Santa Claus for a:

Again, whatever you write here will be repeated word for word in your child’s personalized story. We’ll only have room to include one present that your child has asked for, so please keep your answer short and direct.

EXAMPLE OF A BAD ANSWER: “he wants a new football”

will appear in the story as:

“The letter says Tommy has been good and he would like he wants a new football for Christmas this year,” said Santa.

EXAMPLE OF A GOOD ANSWER: “new football”

will appear in the story as:

“The letter says Tommy has been good and he would like a new football for Christmas this year,” said Santa.

Your child's friends:

You can add the names of up to four of your child's friends or relatives, which will appear hidden among the names on Santa's Nice List alongside your child's own name (don't add your child's name here, or it will appear twice on the list). If you choose to leave these fields blank, we will use default names in their place, but your child's name will of course still appear.
