Make Hot Chocolate a favourite Christmas activity!

Mmmmm.... Hot chocolate one of our favourite Christmas activities. Perfect for a Winter's day.

It’s a well-known fact that all Elves like Hot Chocolate and the chocolatey-er the better!

Elf Hot Chocolate

It’s very cold up at the North Pole, so Hot Chocolate is often made to keep those tiny hands warm so they can continue making toys! Luckily there are hundreds of hot chocolate recipes passed down through the Elf generations, so we have picked out our favourite fantastically festive frothy hot chocolate recipes that you can make this winter.

We’ve even added some for the grown up’s too!

Some of these recipes will taste delicious using our Elf for Christmas Hot Milk Chocolate stirring spoon as a base ingredient – then add your flavours if you wish! Our little spoon (available as part of our Christmas Eve Set) has a chunk of solid Belgian milk chocolate on, which is ready to stir into your warm milk. Even without the recipes below, it will taste delicious on its own.

To prepare your hot chocolate, we recommend heating milk in the microwave in a pyrex jug, away from excited little hands!

Peppermint

Make up your hot chocolate with your Chocolate Stirring Spoon and it’s as simple as adding a scoop of mint ice-cream to make this cool festive treat. Want it hot? Try a couple of drops of peppermint essence instead of ice-cream.

Orange

Add a few segments of chocolate orange (other orange flavoured chocolate is available!) to warm milk and stir until completely melted. Mmmm. If you’re feeling fancy, you can make this Christmas treat with our Chocolate Stirring Spoon & grated orange zest instead.

Nutella

One of the simplest recipes for delicious hot chocolate, add 2 spoons of Nutella to your Chocolate Stirring Spoon, warm milk and STIR! A tiny pinch of salt will give the nut flavour an added kick, but not too much!

Salted Caramel

Heat milk and 2 spoons of caramel sauce together, add your Chocolate Stirring Spoon and a pinch of salt and stir well.

Malteser

Add 1 spoon of Ovaltine or Horlicks to your Chocolate Stirring Spoon, warm milk and stir. Even better with whipped cream and maltesers on top!

Peanut Butter

Add a spoonful of peanut butter (smooth variety unless you like the bits at the bottom of your cup!) to milk and heat up. Stir in your Chocolate Stirring Spoon, mix well & enjoy. Yum!

Dairy Free

Some Elves prefer Dairy free treats, this one is ideal. Use Vanilla Almond milk with unsweetened cocoa powder and add 2 teaspons of coconut palm sugar. Deliciously dairy free!

Frozen themed

A popular hot chocolate recipe we have no doubt! Instead of our spoon, mix melted white chocolate with hot milk. Add a few drops of vanilla essence and a few more of blue food colouring! Cover in mountains of whipped cream and blue sprinkles and your festive frozen treat is ready to Let It Go!!

Irish

Are the little ones in bed yet? One for the grown-ups, simply add a shot of irish cream liqueur to your Chocolate Stirring Spoon & warm milk, sit back and enjoy!

Chilli

For the times you need a little help warming up, sprinkle your hot chocolate with a tiny pinch of cayenne chilli pepper plus a pinch of cinnamon.

Dairy Free, Coconut Delight

A final one for the grown-ups reading this, mix vanilla almond milk with unsweetened cocoa powder, 2 teaspoons of coconut palm sugar and a shot of Malibu! Oh la la! Head Elf is having a night off.

Remember hot chocolate is even tastier with whipped cream, marshamllows & chocolate sprinkles, so make sure you add as many as possible! We have Mini Elf Snowballs (aka mini marshmallows) to help you enjoy yours.

Share your hot chocolatey faces on our Facebook page, the Elves love to see you being Christmassy!
