Elf Arrival Ideas for extra North Pole magic
Here at Elf for Christmas HQ, we are always thinking of new ways to make your Christmas elf tradition even more special. Elf arrival ideas are key to this - we know that Dec 1st is a big day! We thought we'd peaked with our Elf Printable Props and Christmas Elf Treasure Hunt, but this year we've excelled ourselves with some elf arrival ideas to add more fun to Elf Arrival Day!
What are the latest Elf Arrival Ideas?
Doing what it says on the tin, Elf Arrival Day is the day your elf officially "arrives" in your home for Christmas. Usually 1st December, it is the first time your little one meets their Christmas elf.
Although you may have ordered your Christmas elf weeks, or even months, in advance, Elf Arrival Day is when your child discovers that Santa has sent one of his little helpers to spend Christmas with your family... and cause some mischief too!
If you already have your Christmas Elf from previous years, Arrival Day is when this family friend makes their return.
Make the day even more exciting with our elf arrival ideas
Christmas is a busy time, so we are all about making it easier for parents to create festive magic for their little ones. That is why our blog is packed with free resources, like our 24 days of elf ideas.
With our elf arrival ideas, we want to give you some simple ways to make introducing your Christmas elf an unforgettable moment for your children, whilst helping them understand who elf is and why they are here.
Elf Arrival Letter: an introduction from Santa
If it's the first time you've had a Christmas elf and need help explaining who elf is and why they are there, our Elf Arrival Letter is for you – and it's written by the big man himself!
In the letter, Santa explains that elf is visiting for Christmas and likes to see kindness and good behaviour.
The Elf Arrival Letter is part of our Elf Accessories Kit (£9.99), which is choc-full of Christmas elf ideas, including:
-
Mini Elf Report cards for good behaviour
-
Letter to Santa templates
-
Official Nice List Certificates
Whether this is your first Elf Arrival Day, or you have an elf returning, the Accessories Kit has everything you need to bring the magic to life - not just the 1st December but throughout Christmas too!

Elf Delivery labels - elf magic straight from the North Pole
New for 2026, our free, downloadable labels will make it look like your Christmas elf has been delivered straight from Santa's workshop.
Designed to look like real delivery labels, they include loads of cute Christmassy details, including an official "elf mail" postal stamp!
All you have to do is print them out and fill in the "deliver to" section, and Elf Arrival Day has already got off to a wonderful start.
How to use the labels for your new Christmas elf
If you are starting a new Christmas elf tradition, the delivery labels will help make Elf Arrival Day the perfect first day of the Christmas countdown.
Put elf in a box, wrap with some festive wrapping paper and stick on one of our delivery labels (don't forget to fill in all the details!)
Then it is a case of giving it to your little one - how you do it is up to you! You could leave it at the bottom of their bed, for them to wake up to. You could even place it under the Christmas tree (if you have been super organised and got it up already!).
Whatever you decide, your child will see from the label that it has delivered directly from the North Pole, approved by Santa himself. Then it is time for them to get unboxing and meet their new elf bestie for the first time, with all that Christmas elf fun ahead.
They work for returning elves too!
As we all know, Christmas elves return to the North Pole on December 24th to join Santa for a well-earned rest.
If your Christmas elf has been on their North Pole hiatus, the delivery labels are a wonderful way to announce they are back!
Not only will the unboxing make the return of their elf friend even more exciting, the label will remind your little one that there is so much elf fun in store.
